Brainwaves, like all waves are measured in two ways. The first is frequency or speed of the electrical pulses. Frequency is measured in cycles per second. The second measurement is amplitude, or how strong the brainwave is.
There are 4 Brainwave states --
At this level, the mind focuses on the five physical senses: Seeing, Hearing, Touching, Smelling and Tasting. Beta programs help you to: Take an exam, Play sports, Give a presentation, Do activities with mental alertness and high levels of concentration.
NOTE:Too much Beta can cause significant problems for the individual by increasing muscle tension, raising blood pressure, and creating a state of anxiety, anger and aggression for the individual
Alpha is known as the Earth frequency, we feel better and refreshed. Simply by closing eyes and taking 3 deep breaths, one enters Alpha.
It is the place of: Passivity, Relaxation, Intuition, Inspiration, Creativity, Expanding awareness and Learning.
Alpha training is most commonly recommended for the treatment of stress. Deep relaxation can be experienced at Alpha levels. It is the gateway that leads to deeper states of consciousness
In Theta, we are in a waking dream, flashes of vivid imagery can be experienced and we are open to receive information beyond conscious awareness.
In this state, most people: Fall asleep, Control their heart beat, bleeding, and digestion. Enter deep meditation.
Theta is an ideal state to be in, if one is interested in Super-learning, Mind reprogramming, Dream recall, Self-hypnosis, Increasing creativity, Enhancing learning, Reducing stress, Recovering long lost memories, Awakening intuition and other ESP skills.
This area dominates in periods of very deep sleep, coma, or unconsciousness.
Here the body repairs itself a minimum of 3 times faster than the normal rate.
